Frequently asked questions

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not by the app. Cancel or change anytime at apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions or in Settings › your name › Subscriptions.

Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep Pro access until the end of the period you already paid for. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

I reinstalled / switched devices and lost Pro. How do I get it back?

Open the paywall (Me tab › Contour Pro) and tap Restore while signed in with the Apple ID you purchased with. Apple will re-validate your purchase — no charge.

How do I move my rides to a new iPhone?

The supported path is iCloud sync (a Pro feature): enable it on the old device, sign in to the same Apple ID on the new one, and your rides, bikes, and settings sync through your own iCloud account.

You can also export everything as an open JSON file (Me tab › Export) as a backup you keep yourself.

What does Contour write to Apple Health?

Nothing until you turn it on. When enabled (Me tab › Apple Health), each finished ride is saved as one workout with distance, calories, elevation, speed, and the route. Contour never reads anything from the Health app. You can delete Contour's workouts anytime in the Health app.

What is the start/end privacy blur?

By default, GPS points within about 300 m of where each ride starts and ends are treated as sensitive: they're excluded from map display options and from GPX/FIT exports, so sharing a ride doesn't reveal your home. You can change the radius or turn the blur off in Me tab › Privacy & Security — but keep in mind exported files then contain the full track.

My heart rate strap / power meter won't connect
  • Wake the sensor up first (usually by wearing it or pedaling), then open Me › Sensors and start a scan.
  • Contour supports standard Bluetooth cycling sensors: heart rate straps, power meters, and speed/cadence sensors. Sensors that use proprietary apps or non-standard protocols won't appear.
  • If a sensor pairs but shows no data, unpair it in Contour, restart Bluetooth in iOS Settings, and scan again.
  • If your sensor is currently paired to another app or head unit, disconnect it there first — many sensors serve only one connection at a time.
Where are my GPX / FIT exports?

Open a ride, tap the share action, and choose the format. Exports go through the iOS share sheet — save to Files, AirDrop, or any app. Bulk export (every ride as GPX plus a spreadsheet) is a Pro feature from the Me tab.

My distance / elevation looks wrong

Bad weather, tunnels, and downtown canyons degrade GPS. For elevation, Contour combines GPS altitude with the phone's barometer, and automatically re-checks each ride against an elevation database when you open it. If one ride is clearly broken (e.g., recorded indoors or in a tunnel), you can edit or delete it. Write to us with a screenshot if a specific ride misbehaves — real-world traces help us improve the filters.
